Tetsu Geta, Higaonna Dojo – Fine Art Print
Description
Tetsu Geta, Higaonna Dojo is a quiet, reverent Japanese ink study of iron training sandals used in the authentic dojo of Morio Higaonna in Naha, Okinawa. These heavy iron geta are traditional conditioning tools within Goju-Ryu Karate, symbolising discipline, endurance, and humility.
Though the dojo is world-renowned, the spirit captured here is one of quiet simplicity. The geta are kept alive not through luxury, but through care: secured with repurposed white belts, denim jean loops, and clothing cord. Worn with age and softened by years of use, they are aligned neatly and tidily, much loved and deeply respected.
This work honours not only the physical tools of training, but the unseen devotion embedded in daily practice. The composition becomes a meditation on humility, persistence, and the quiet beauty of repetition.
Originally created as a Japanese ink artwork on bamboo paper, this piece is offered as a fine art reproduction, preserving the texture of the ink, the natural fibre of the paper, and the soulful stillness of the original.

Care
Caring for Your Artwork
To preserve the beauty and longevity of your artwork, a little care goes a long way. Follow the guidance below to help protect your piece for years to come.
Fine Art Prints
Handle prints with clean, dry hands, holding them by the edges wherever possible. Avoid touching the printed surface, as oils from your fingers can leave marks. Keep prints away from direct sunlight, moisture and excessive humidity. When storing unframed prints, use an archival-quality sleeve or acid-free protective materials, and store them flat in a clean, dry environment.
For the best long-term protection, consider professional framing with UV-protective glazing and archival-quality materials.
Original Artworks
Handle original artworks gently and with clean, dry hands, avoiding contact with the painted or drawn surface. Keep them away from direct sunlight, heat sources, moisture and fluctuating temperatures. Avoid applying cleaning products, or polish to the artwork, and seek advice to clean the surface yourself. When moving or storing an original, protect it from dust, scratches and impact.
For valuable or delicate works, consult a professional art conservator for specialist care and preservation advice.
CRAFT & QUALITY
Each artwork is created with a considered approach to composition, detail and material. From original works shaped by the artist's hand to fine art prints that bring these works to a wider audience, every piece is selected or produced to honour the integrity of the art.
