Jo Burt is an artist whose work blends nature, imagination and quiet storytelling into pieces that invite viewers to slow down and reconnect with the world around them. Living on the coast and surrounded by ocean, mountains and shifting coastal light, she creates artworks that reflect both the calm and the mystery of the natural landscape.
Drawing inspiration from time spent in and around nature, Jo finds her creative rhythm while snorkelling the coastline, paddling quiet estuaries or exploring by SUP. These moments of stillness and observation appear in her oil paintings through atmospheric light, soft realism and a strong sense of place. Her Japanese sumi-e ink work captures movement, simplicity and spirit, often influenced by coastal culture and her long practice of Okinawan FIghting Arts. Her surreal pieces explore imagination and wonder, weaving dreamlike elements with coastal themes.
Jo has exhibited in local galleries including the Noosa Regional Art Gallery and the Brisbane Institute of Art, and internationally at the Tokyo National Museum. Her originals and prints are also represented in Sunshine Coast galleries, where her coastal aesthetic resonates strongly with collectors.
