__________

Tetsu Geta, Higaonna Dojo is a quiet, reverent Japanese ink study of iron training sandals used in the authentic dojo of Morio Higaonna in Naha, Okinawa. These heavy iron geta are traditional conditioning tools within Goju-Ryu Karate, symbolising discipline, endurance, and humility.

Though the dojo is world-renowned, the spirit captured here is one of quiet simplicity. The geta are kept alive not through luxury, but through care: secured with repurposed white belts, denim jean loops, and clothing cord. Worn with age and softened by years of use, they are aligned neatly and tidily, much loved and deeply respected.

This work honours not only the physical tools of training, but the unseen devotion embedded in daily practice. The composition becomes a meditation on humility, persistence, and the quiet beauty of repetition.

Originally created as a Japanese ink artwork on bamboo paper, this piece is offered as a museum-grade fine art reproduction, preserving the texture of the ink, the natural fibre of the paper, and the soulful stillness of the original.
