Sunshine Surf Check is a quiet Japanese ink study of a surfer pausing at the headland of Sunshine Beach, reading the ocean before entering the water. The figure wears swimwear designed by the artist, subtly weaving fashion, surf culture, and fine art into a single contemplative coastal moment.

Created using a deeply traditional process, the ink was hand-ground into an ink well and applied with bamboo and hair brushes onto handmade, transparent Japanese mulberry paper.
